Ticking all the boxes
I’ll say this right off the bat: I’ve discovered that I’ve become pretty fond of Aurora.
In my time I’ve owned a grey flex Optima, a Duocart, a Talentum Black Ops, an 88 Black Mamba, a Pacifico, an 88 Minerali Amethyst, and my favourite of all, an 88 Nettuno.
My experiences… Continue reading

OK folks, that time of the month again (well, near enough). Let’s see what’s in my tray for August.
Left to right: Montegrappa Extra, Visconti London Fog, Visconti Medici, Aurora 88 Nettuno, Aurora Duo-Cart, Montblanc Agatha Christie, Montblanc Geometry Solitaire, Montblanc 1912, Lamy 2000, Kaweco Art Sport Alabaster, Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl, Geha 760, Graf… Continue reading
I have a fresh appreciation for Aurora’s pens. The 88 Nettuno has wormed its way into my heart, and I not only love the way it writes (which I take credit for) but the way it looks and feels in the hand.

But for months and months I’ve been unable to get this pen out of my head,… Continue reading
I recently bought an Aurora 88 with italic nib. It was not what I expected.
This is because Aurora does not make it easy. Over the years it’s offered different kinds of italic nibs, including different widths of italics. Try to find pictures on the internet and you often turn up ten-year-old threads on FPN.… Continue reading
My curiosity about the Talentum Black Ops was piqued when the first round of reviews hit the internet a while back. But at that point I was an Aurora virgin and not quite ready to dip my toe in the water.
Fast-forward to last month and I’d invested in one of the Limited Edition Optimas… Continue reading
With every pen sold, it seems another pen shows up at the door. I could say it’s a kind of cosmic equilibrium, but the reality is I just have no self-control.
So while I’ve said goodbye to several pens recently (just yesterday I posted off my lovely Pilot Fermo), the collection is barely any smaller.… Continue reading
