I’ll start with my conclusion: the new Onoto plunger filler is not the best or most practical Onoto for most people. But if you love the brand and its history, that may not matter to you at all.
Bear with me for a history lesson
I’ve never really done history lessons on this blog —… Continue reading

Onoto sure know how to create a sense of occasion. I purchased this Onoto Magna Classic prototype from the London Pen Show, but I wanted it with a gold nib and the optional brass weight added to the barrel — so it went away to the workshop instead of home with me.… Continue reading
Ticking all the boxes
I’ll say this right off the bat: I’ve discovered that I’ve become pretty fond of Aurora.
In my time I’ve owned a grey flex Optima, a Duocart, a Talentum Black Ops, an 88 Black Mamba, a Pacifico, an 88 Minerali Amethyst, and my favourite of all, an 88 Nettuno.
My experiences… Continue reading

First, I wish Anthony all the best for his new job and enjoy his family life. I would also like to thank him for all his contributions over the last five years. We just can’t deny how much we have gaind from his reviews! I am sure he might want to come… Continue reading
After my last post, I received dozens of messages asking me to keep ukfountainpens.com live as a resource for the community.
For a variety of reasons, I couldn’t commit to doing that. But I’m excited to announce something even better.

From that tray I’ve sold the Nakaya 17mm, Namiki Urushi 20, Radius, ASC arco, Graf Classic and Aurora 88. Six of 18.
Some really really good pens there! Honestly I probably… Continue reading
I snuck out of the house today at 7.30, and cruised under sunny skies to London for the pen show with a sense of anticipation. By the time I walked in the door of the Novotel ballroom at 8.30, many tables were already set up and I saw several familiar faces.
Jose Munuera and his… Continue reading
Yep, it’s this time of year again. Another pen show, back in London, and my excitement is mounting.
Here’s my plan so far:
Get started with earlybird entry at 9am. You can still buy tickets!
Head to Cult Pens: I need to swap my broken Narwhal for starters. And check out what goodies Claire and… Continue reading
