Magnificent seven has been going pretty well. Time to take it to the next level: Friday five. Same principle, two fewer pens.

Here’s week one.

Conid Minimalistica Monarch, Sailor Kin-Mokusei

I’ve been persevering with the Conid, and today flushed out the Montblanc UNICEF, tried Montblanc Red Chine, then flushed and inked with this orange, in pursuit of a transparent glow in the demonstrator barrel.

I also tried a few different nibs to show off the ink a bit better, and so far have settled on this fine/medium Ti.

Montblanc 149, Montblanc Homer Greek Blue

I’ve remarked before on how much I love Greek Blue. The colour change from bold royal blue to chalky sky blue is quite dramatic.

Esterbrook Estie, Bungubox 4B

Next week is my last week at work before Christmas. I expect some serious note-taking that the 2048 nib will be perfect for. I feel I should try 4B in a wider nib, but the sheen is amazing even in an EF like this.

Kaweco Art Sport, Kaweco Midnight Blue

Midnight Blue is a truly fantastic ink, with a good amount of shading and even a little sheen. It’s been a while since I gave the Art Sport Alabaster a good run, so I thought I would remedy the situation.

Visconti Van Gogh Dr Gachet, Herbin Rose

I listed out my Herbin inks last weekend and was struck by how fun this rose-scented red is. It dries a little powdery pink, but it’s wet and smells great. And the broad nib in this Van Gogh is sublime.
